  • Unbelievable how hard authorities had to deal with this everyday! And much more patience i ever seen! No one accepted, that they were wrong and just say sorry. I was only one made mistake, and immediately sorry 🙏 and the authority was surprised by the fact that i was apologized that I'm wrong. and she let me go! Probably she was not yet issue the ticket that why.

You can’t do that. Have a nice day.” I don’t care about what you’ve seen other people doing, I don’t care if you were only going to the bathroom, and I definitely don’t care if it’s a rental. It’s still a car parked illegally. Take the ticket gracefully and go.

  • This happens all the time in Greece. I have relatives on the greek island of Crete and I was almost hit by a distracted driver the other day while he tried to drive up the sidewalk without giving a dime that I was walking there. He was a wannabe tough guy and instead of apologizing he kept cursing at me ' till I called the police. It's really a nightmare in Greece as a pedestrian you always fear to get hit by a distracted driver. As if sidewalk parking wasn't bad enough from cars, bikers do this 24/7 and even speed on them. If you have ever visited Greece you know what I'm talking about

    • @rstanis2 LOL I also have been looking at sidewalks when I’m driving, when before I didn’t even think about it. I have noticed that in the older neighbourhoods the footpaths are further in and the council plant trees on their side but in my area which is only 15 years old the footpath is right up to the curb. If I drive 10 mins in one direction then I’m into open farmland whereas the other way I’m heading back towards Adelaide. And I’m with you I would lose my $hit if someone damaged my car but mines in the garage so no worries. I find it very strange that your parents can’t park on the street but as you say each place has it owns rules. As for Chicago I have been there once many years ago I liked the juxtaposition of the different styles of architecture, the old and the new didn’t stay long but what I seen I liked mind you I don’t think I would go there now, I heard it can be very dangerous even when going to buy a subway sandwich. Driving without a licence is a definite no no and third-party insurance covers you if you hit someone, it covers them not you. If you don’t have a licence, you’re not driving anywhere. So, when you renew your licence third party is mandatory and then of course you get your own insurance to cover for theft etc. $150 to $20 is a big difference now if I was living in America, I would be paying the $20 as I loved Savannah. And I meant the whole of America lives in a bubble I think Americans can be very ignorant of the rest of the world anyways I’ll leave it at that. So just to finish we are very strict with DUI and the police can pull you over anytime they want, I know that would not go down well in America as you value your rights but that’s the way it is here and we are more like Canada than you guys….

      MichaelMichael5 күн мурун
    • @Michael . yes "fat and lazy" was just going off on anything. now you got me measuring things. my home is an amazing 13 feet curb to start of sidewalk. My parent's, just one town away, is likely smaller, but still likely 10feet. What a huge waste of space. It's for "safety," just like everything... Luckily, I own cars that are compact, 12-13feet in length, so I actually get away with parking between that tight space. However, I'm paranoid people may brush against the car, scratch it, a dog leash bent my license plate before. I will lose my mind over it because it's my car. Overnight street parking is a town by town ordinance. Where I live you can park on the street, for my parent's you cannot. I do not and would not live in or close to a city. My nearby city would be Chicago. Many neighborhoods have cars with dents everywhere. That's their culture. Very busy, no spaces, traffic everywhere. Cars get their mirrors broken off, no one pays for it. No parking. Extremely expensive parking. I'm not raised in that culture though it's very close to where I live. Those city people just accept it, but I would not. I do not know the fine for caught without a license. It's even up to the police if they want to arrest you there on the spot for that. I've been without mine many times. But I have one. They should let you go if they see you have one on file. I do not know 3rd party insurance. I have regular car insurance. I probably pay $500 a year, which is cheap because my car value is low. That's only liability insurance, not complete. My state increased annual license plate renewal. Every state makes its own price. My state set the price at $151. While Georgia has it at $20. I know Canada takes DUI very seriously too. I drove my car there and they checked my record to see if I ever had a DUI in America, because if you do, you cannot drive in Canada at all, for a period. I think that's a violation of basic rights to pull someone over for no reason at all. There must be suspicion before an alcohol test is requested from an individual. I have lost my mind over anything. It's really the principle of the matter, for me. Also, I would be blocking the sidewalk with my car every single day. I eventually had to park on the street and then pull my car in at night, and block the sidewalk. I found it annoying. I suppose everyone who comes here develops their own bubble and later gets very upset when they find others pressing on their bubble. I had a relative who was in a car with a friend that got pulled over and the officer gave no reason for it. Just looked at their ID and that was it. That's an illegal stop. Also brings in profiling. Honestly, from something I seen and read I thought Australia was okay with drinking and driving. There was a story of these men in a car, drunk like every weekend, speeding, hit and killed another in a car. the story made it sound like this is what young men in the country do over there on weekends in Australia. Like a Mad Max adventure gone wrong. I really thought Australia had more freedom that what you're describing. All that open land. You must live in a city.

      rstanis2rstanis25 күн мурун
    • @rstanis2 Obliviously you have very strong opinions on this issue and my reply was just in response to the fact that certain people have in your words are “disrespectful and ignorant/arrogant.” And I would agree. As for Americans being fat and lazy, I won’t go there but do have my thoughts on that matter, as a Non-American I can tell you that our footpaths here in Australia are like 2 to 3 feet from the curb (I don’t even have a footpath on my side of the street luckily, it’s on the other side) “No overnight street parking”. Now that’s madness in Aust you can purchase yes for a fee a residential parking permit where as only residents can park on that street, mostly in the city areas where parking is hard to find, but out in the suburbs we have no such issue. Also shop owners will hassle their local council about parking and how they are losing money and I know it my state most councils set up certain times for free parking. I think our fees for parking illegally might be higher than yours, park in a handicap zone US dollar $250.00 plus (ok a little bit side tracked here) caught without a licence Au dollar $1250. Plus, when you renew your licence, you must pay 3rd party insurance to cover you ($152.00au) and then of course the rest for the licence. And if caught a second time then you are looking at possible 6 months jail. Our police can pull you over anytime they want and give you drug and alcohol test straight away, we take driving under the influence very seriously here. So, when I see an American lose their mind over a $20 dollar fine it makes me wonder but then I think like most people that American’s seem to live in their own bubble. Anyways ill leave it at that.

      MichaelMichael7 күн мурун
    • @Michael Correct, parking blocking the sidewalk and issuing tickets is about making money. Fire hydrants have been a common sense staple in society for a while. Bus lanes, I think it's highly disrespectful and ignorant/arrogant. Buses...well buses actually use that, they can't use anything else....just have them park in the lane? so buses and hydrants are okay. Sidewalks? Unless the child is handicapped in a wheelchair, they should walk around/in between the car(s). Why is that wrong? Why are Americans so fat and lazy that they can't do that? Examine things from this perspective I have: My property: everything "execpt" that sidewalk. . They put that sidewalk about 5 or 7 feet inward, up the driveway. In south Korea the sidewalk is AT the curb. Not 5 feet or so inward. That's ridiculous. 3rd, I come from a family of 4 vehicles, how in the world can you fit 4 cars in a driveway and not block the sidewalk? My sister, me, my dad and my mom. 4 cars. No overnight street parking. It was rought during those times. I got tickets and lost the case. Hooray for you, no hooray for me. The school children? You can walk around the car. My neighborhood had NO sidewalks when I was a kid walking to school ON THE STREET and we never got hit by a car. it's 20mph after all. C'mon hear me out. Things change and now we HAVE to have sidewalks and rules and more rules and more...I will not support it. I support common sense, busting laziness, and understanding. We live in America, this country is about makng as money as possible doing as little work as possible. I have my examples of that for a rainy day phone call I could share with you. Is it hard for the government to write a ticket? it's easy work, and they take your money. they didn't make it, they just collect it. bus lanes and hydrants are disrespect and arrogance. your sidewalk, let it be yours if it's your driveway .that's how it should be at least. i guess i'm more of wanting to live on a farm, not the suburbs with its regulations. bus lanes are on the street, hydrants are on the's street parking. i don't own street. i do own driveway. sidewalk is placed annoying 5 feet inward. and it's my driveway

I never heard of them doing such a thing. It's sad when people try to take away your rights to park your own vehicle in your driveway. So what if it blocks the the sidewalk ..!! I feel sorry for the people that live in those cities that are run like that. They're just holding everybody hostage...!!!

    Andres LuceroAndres Lucero19 күн мурун
    • Sidewalks are public property. It's that simple. You're also wrong about the law. New Mexico's NRS §66-7-351 and Texas' TRANSP § 545.302 both prohibit sidewalk parking. You not seeing it happen means squat. Also, the hyperbole makes you look foolish. Lay off the OAN talking points.

  • The city of Detroit is like a con man. What I mean by that. Is that the city has everybody hostage. They make everybody pull out their wallet and pay taxes that are stupid. These parking violations are just outrageous a small fine leads to a bigger fine because you didn't want to pay are you didn't pay in time. Then before you know it it turns into a warrant issued by the court for your arrest for failure to pay....!!! Get arrested you end up in jail now there's more time in jail because you can't get out because you don't have the money to get out right away. Then when the courts see that you don't have the money to pay I let you out on your own recognizance hoping that you'll pay..!!! That city is run by a bunch of liberals. Everything liberals touch they destroy...!!! City of Detroit as gimme gimme gimme gimme more more more money money money....!!!
